For 2017, Silverado 1500 trucks have significant updates within the "Enhanced Driver Alert Package", which consists of several safety-related functions: Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Safety Alert Driver Seat, and Front and Rear Park Assist. The 'Teen Driver' technology now comes standard on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which helps coach and monitor behavior, and the Crew Cab choice (with the 6.2L V8 engine) comes with a 12,500-pound tow capacity rating. There's a standard rear-view camera that appears on the LT. Plus, there are two new exterior paint colors, Pepperdust Metallic and Graphite Metallic. That's a very persuasive list in terms of new items added in just this model year!

Under the Silverado 1500's Hood

The 2017 Silverado 1500 has standard rear-wheel drive (RWD), while there are also available add-ons, like auto-locking hubs and part-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) with inherent low-range gearing. Also, in higher trims, there's an available electronic locking differential. Standard on all trim levels except the LTZ and High Country is a 4.3-liter V6 engine that combines with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission that makes 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. For 2017, a 5.3-liter V8 engine is standard on the Silverado 1500 LTZ and High Country, and optional for various other trim levels. Look for 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft from this V8 with the standard transmission or with an optional 8-speed automatic. On those two models, the LTZ and High Country, is an available 6.2-liter 420-horsepower V8 engine with the 8-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy ratings are at 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined, for both RWD and 4WD-just remember, properly equipped the towing capacity is rated at 12,000-pounds!

There are three cab choices, the 2-door, 3-passenger Regular Cab, the 4-door, 6-passenger Double Cab, and the 4-door, 6-passenger Crew Cab. There are 3 available bed lengths: the 5.8-foot short bed, the 6.6-foot standard bed, and the 8.2-foot long bed. There are 7 trims, including the base Work Truck (WT), LS, LT, Custom, LTZ, High Country, and the LTZ Z71.  And then, although a smaller run than the others, there are 6 special edition styles on top of all that, including the Rally or Midnight HD versions, for instance. The 2017 Silverado 1500 has a capless fuel fill and available 18-inch off-road tires. The classic Z71 Off-Road Package also is a favorite with its skid plates, all-terrain tires, an off-road tuned suspension with Rancho shocks, and more- Don't miss it! Inside the 2017 Silverado 1500, there is available leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, remote engine start, memory for driver settings, and a telescoping tilt-wheel steering cruise control and the usual power accessories. On the tech side, there is the available Chevrolet MyLink with a 7-inch or 8-inch color touch-screen display, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, steering wheel controls for the MyLink system and Cruise control, and even wireless charging!
